about the apartment
THE BLUE ROOM
The Blue Room, created out of one of the former reception rooms in this Georgian merchant’s house, is a stylish, ground-floor, self-contained space. Painted deep blue, with original floorboards and window shutters, it is full of contemporary art and mid-century furniture. It has its own dedicated car-parking space with 3-pin EV charging point.
The Blue Room is accessed off the ground-floor hallway of Haroldston House. You are welcome to enjoy the hall and stairs, which are full of art and books. The washing machine and dryer are also located in the main house down a flight of steep, stone steps.
It is a studio space with a sofa bed that turns into a small double (4’0″/1.2m wide), with a memory-foam mattress topper; clothes-hanging area; easy chairs around a coffee table; and a dining table. The bed will be made up for your arrival, but can easily be turned into a sofa during the day if you wish. This room also has a Smart TV, Wi-Fi, hair dryer, central heating and a log burner. Leading off it is a mini-kitchenette with hob, combination microwave and fridge (with ice-box). Off a small lobby is a compact wetroom, with a shower.
WHAT YOU GET
Egyptian cotton bed linen and bath towels are supplied, as well as waffle bathrobes and slippers. There are tea and hand towels in the kitchenette, along with dishcloths and washing-up liquid. There is free use of the washing machine and dryer (including washing detergent) in the main house. Wi-Fi, electricity, central heating and wood for the log burner are also included in the price.
PARKING & BIKES
There is free parking available directly outside with a 3-pin EV charging point. Unfortunately, there is no facility for bike storage.

IF YOU BOOK, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT…
The bed is a sofa bed that becomes a ‘small double’ at 4’/120cm wide – a ‘standard double’ is 4’6″/135cm wide. EV charger is 3-pin, so only suitable for overnight charging. There is no space to store bikes. Access is off the main hallway in Haroldston House, which is also used by our Stable Studio guests; they are requested to respect your privacy when coming through the premises early in the morning or late at night, but it is an 200-year-old house so its acoustic properties are not the same as a modern property. The laundry facilities are down a steep flight of steps (but we are happy to take care of your laundry should you have any mobility issues). There is a poor phone signal for some mobile phone networks, so please bear this in mind if you are on holiday with relatives in other accommodation; however, there is Wi-Fi. You are also welcome to use the house phone for dinner reservations etc. The studio is in a great location in the village, however is at the front of the house and has an original single-glazed sash window, so you will hear traffic noise from the road. If this is likely to bother you, have a look at the Stable Studio which is located in the garden.
GUEST REVIEWS FOR THE BLUE ROOM
What a wonderful cozy place from which to explore the stunning surrounding area! Excellent facilities in the apartment and we made very good use of the log burning fire! So homely! All the little touches like the bath robes, toiletries, breakfast supplies and stamp on the postcard made out trip extra special. Thanks so much for a fantastic holiday!
Thanks for a fantastic weekend in such an amazing place. Everything – from the beautifully appointed room to the stunning location and exceptionally friendly locals & great food in the local, has made it a tip to remember. Fab bread too, Maria.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. The Blue Room is meticulously designed, well-appointed, and spotlessly maintained. We really appreciated your attention to sustainability – almost zero waste! And the fresh bread + Welsh cakes were delicious. Thank you.
